You're invited to a Bead Pary

Quilts 'n Stuff is celebrating 20 years in business. From August 2nd through the 14th we will be having a sale, there will be free stuff, a contest, a guessing game, prizes and a Bead Party!
Above is a small sample of the beads. There will be bracelets, necklaces, earings and lots of loose beads so you can make a quilt with beaded embelishments. Bead for Life is an organization that supports African women who make paper beads out of recycled paper to support themselves and their families. We'll have a dvd showing you about them or you can go to their web site http://www.beadforlife.org and check it out yourself before you come to my shop.
The green beads at the bottom are beads my Mom bought over 20 years ago from a similar organization.
Come and celebrate with us!

New Big Buttons

I am back from vacation. We didn't rest much- my sister planned 2 days of visiting Quilt Shops. All the shops had something to offer. Mary or I bought quilting patterns and fabrics in all the shops. The one that impressed me the most was The Quilted Cottage in Saginaw. Nice bright shop and they have a lot going on.

2nd photo: NEW Dill buttons. the picture is deceiving-they are BIG buttons. Great for quilted purses and totes. The large (2 1/4") are $2.50 and the smaller (1 3/4") are $2.25. There are square and teardrop shape too.

Gotta get back to work-lot's of things to get ready for my 20th Anniversary Celebration starting Aug 2nd thru the 14th.

1st photo: Flowers buttons for $1.00 and that black one to the right has holes so you can run ribbon or beads through ($2.10)
You can order by calling my shop - find more information at http://www.quiltsnstuff.net/.

Songbirds

You may have seen the Baltimore Oriole on my home page. It is one of my newest quilt/wallhanging patterns. We have not gotten it on the shopping cart because we had a hard drive problem so if you would like to order it, just e-mail me at garkens@quiltsnstuff.net.

A Brown Thatcher is also included with the Oriole pattern. That's the shape bird I had in my head when I started the bird patterns but I just couldn't make one bird.

On the next blog I will show you the Cardinal and the Scarlet Tanager.

Welcome to My New Blog!

Hi Quilters!

I'm Glenna Arkens and I own a small quilting shop and I design quilt patterns under the name "Quilts 'n Stuff by Glenna." This is a picture of me last summer at my friend Sally Zimmer's Quilt Show she held outside on their forested property. I dressed for the occasion.
Customers love my shop. It is in a 120 year old house and the first 3 rooms are the shop. I feature batiks and I'm always making new patterns and changing things around so you'll see something new every time you come in.
My web site has just been revamped by my friend Amber Lippold who has a web site where you can build quilts-it's great. Check it out. So she suggested I start this blog so you can see what I have done in the past and what I am doing new.
